Sustainability, regionality and seasonality

Regional products from our garden and Pustertal

At Hotel Leitlhof, our team of cooks under Chef Hermann Patzleiner will spoil you with food made with only the very best quality ingredients. Almost everything that comes to our kitchen is from Pustertal. Some products even come to us directly from the hotel or Mühlhof, the farm belonging to Hotel Leitlhof.

Our farm - the Mühlhof

At the farm, which is part of Hotel Leitlhof, young Stephan practises traditional sheep farming. Our fresh lamb comes directly from the organic farm just 500 m from the Leitlhof wellness hotel. The grass and hay for the Tyrolean mountain sheep are also from our fields. The hotel has its own herb garden, while at the Mühlhof there is another, larger herb garden, an extensive plot where we grow our vegetables, and a potato field. In this way, we meet most of the needs of our kitchen. Among other things, we also produce various herbal liqueurs, including elderberry liqueur: you can savour this at our bar and, if you so desire, buy it in our shop.

Regional suppliers

Other vegetables, fruit and meat come from farmers in and around Hochpustertal. Extra potatoes, for example, come from the Wiesthal farm, which is just 1.5 km away. In general, almost all the products we use in the kitchen come from within a range of 50 km and directly from Pustertal. These regional products include the excellent cheese from the Patzleiner dairy at the Lechner farm and the Three Peaks dairy which regularly offers tastings of cheeses with buffet at Hotel Leitlhof. The bread is bought fresh every day from the Walder Bakery in Toblach or from the Happacher Bakery in Sexten.

Regional products, short supply chains

The team of cooks at Hotel Leitlhof cares not only for your palate, but also for the environment. For this reason we use predominantly fresh, regional meat and vegetables from organic farms. We therefore avoid the long chains of imported and non-organic products. In any case, fresh produce always tastes better.

Taste and sustainability: these are the two pillars of the Leitlhof with regard to all things culinary. We are delighted that our work receives regular recognition from various bodies, and awards such as the European Award for a Leading Green Hotel; and, in the "travel" category, we have won the GreenTec Awards several times. We are also on the Green Pearl Hotels circuit.

Look ahead to a first-class holiday in Hochpustertal and send us a request without obligation for the period during which you would like to stay at the Leitlhof.
