The Karnische Höhenweg (high altitude path)

This panorama-rich high altitude path in Hochpustertal originates from the time of the First World War. The tour leads along the Italian-Austrian border partly on the Friedensweg (Peace Path) and partly on the Via Alpine Roten Weg (Red Path).

Hike the total length of 155km partly on some long, but easy to overcome, stages. A total of 9 shelters and huts are located on the way. 

The stages

In 8 to 11 stages you will get from Sexten to Nassfeld:

  1. stage: 4 hours

Sexten /Sillian to Sillian Hut on the Helm (2,447m)

  1. stage: 5 hours

Sillian Hut to Obstansersee Hut (2,304m) (incl. 4 summits)

  1. stage: 7 hours

Obstansersee Hut to Porze Hut (1,942m) (incl. 2 summits, 1 easy via ferrata)

  1. stage: 9 hours

Porze Hut to Hochweißsteinhaus (1,868m) (incl. 3 peaks)

  1. stage: 6 hours

Hochweißsteinhaus to Wolayer-See-Hut (1,959m) / Rifugio Lambertenghi Romanin (1,955m( (over the Giramondo pass, 2,005m)

  1. stage: 2 hours

Wolayer Lake to Unteren Valentinalm (1,220m) (here you have the possibility to climb up the Hohe Warte – full-day)

  1. stage: 8 horus

Untere Valentinalm to Zollnersee Hut (1,720m) (incl. easy climbing)

  1. stage: 8 hours

Zollnersee Hut to Nassfeld (incl. via ferrata for experienced climbers)
